Living Environment
Located in Oregon, clients live in gender-specific residential settings, five clients per household. Mens treatment program is facilitated by two male counselors and housing the five bedroom house offers spacious surroundings for their comfort. Womens treatment program is facilitated by two female counselors and housing is a Victorian home that has been totally remodeled set for up to five women. Clients will required to purchase and prepare their own meals in our fully modern kitchen, and responsible for clean-up and pick-up after themselves. Store runs available twice a week. Offering safe environment for an alternative to addiction inpatient and alcohol inpatient treatment.
Clients are bussed to their addiction rehab and alcohol treatment setting and to outside activities such as health clubs, twelve step meetings and recreational activities. Clients are required to remain in their living environments except for during staff-supervised outside activities. Providing a positive environment for alcohol and drug inpatient services.
Gender-specific housing and treatment environments provide specialty in dealing with men’s and women’s issues during the most sensitive period of recovery. Being in a group of up to no more than five people provides ample room to work on their treatment schedule.
We provide our residents with a structured and supportive environment in which to continue their recovery. Our residents are held accountable for their actions through check-in procedures and weekly sobriety tests. We have a house manager who supervises the living environment. A back deck and barbeque add to the environment. Recreation room with a pool table and activities gives the clients a brief break from their treatment responsibilities.
Residents of Better Choices House engage in weekly house meetings led by the House Manager. Household responsibilities are shared equally, giving residents an opportunity to both take responsibility and rely on others in their daily lives. Residents also participate in a recovery-based activity group on weekends, engaging in outdoor activities such as Frisbee-golf and hiking.
